How To Find The Time Of Your Life

How do you find the time of your life?

How do you live in a way that is alive with meaning, purpose, passion?

What is the difference that makes a difference? What separates a life of excellence from a life of mediocrity?

A well-spent life is a well-lived life, and a well-lived life is a rare thing indeed.

Spending your time wisely is the way to achieve this rare feat. For this to happen, an accidental life will not do. It has to be an intentional life, where your will creates the opportunity that you need to fully express the best that is in you.

However, before the urge for intentionality arises, wisdom, the first requirement necessary to create the time of your life, has to be born, and this arises accidentally.

Everyone since infancy is led astray, indoctrinated about what things mean, and, they remain unconscious, working unhappily for themselves and the social agenda, unless something happens to snap them into self-awareness.

Your natural inclination is to enjoy things that are pleasant, but life is difficult, misleading directions are ubiquitous, and sooner or later you come to grief over some dashed expectation. It is this signal of pain that awakens you to seek knowledge, and from knowledge and experience comes wisdom.

What keeps wisdom at bay is popular opinion.

Deceived by popular opinion for years, you mature when you understand your business is much more with yourself than with your performance in the world.

Once you come to know yourself better, able to rein in your wild impulses and take thought over what best fits your nature and what is your optimum environment, then you begin to fathom that beyond the social fabric of your life is something greater--life itself.

You discover, much to your amazement, that it is life itself calling to you, from the bottom of some hidden depth of consciousness, to express yourselves more fully, and to live in high rapport with yourself and others.

The time of your life will begin when you cease to conform to popular opinion, seeing it for what it is, the greatest of lies. This break from mainstream thought creates original thinking: you begin to see the world anew, seeing it with the fresh perspective of a child.

When you come to understand that where you are right now is the perfect place to be, the wisdom to create clear and meaningful intentions blossoms within your mind. You will understand that it does not benefit you to peer dimly into the future. Instead, you gain ground when you intuitively follow the advice of Virginia Woolf: “arrange what pieces come your way.”

When you can catch yourself doing what clearly lies at hand, you seize upon real time, present time, and become aware of the pulse of life leading you. Prior to this, you were lost in unreal time, the past and the future, places of nostalgia and regret, places of doubt and anxiety.

Thus, you can find the time of your life by awakening to the present moment, awakening to yourself as a unique perspective in the world, and awakening to life itself, rather than merely functioning in a society, bound by its constricting interpretations of what things mean.

The converse of the time of your life is a tragic life, and it falls to those who could have grasped knowledge, learned from experience, and awakened into wisdom, but, despite the sting of adversity, failed to do so.

Your life is successful if it excites you into self-inquiry and this, in turn, excites you into constructive action.

The greatest tragedy is to remain unconscious from cradle to grave, merely following subliminal orders, misinterpreting them for your own thoughts.

In this state of somnambulism you fail to grasp that your life is as deep as eternity.

In truth, the universe is your university: there are, as Shakespeare pointed out, “books in babbling brooks and sermons in the stones.”

Your life will awaken when you awaken to it, and your time will be well-spent if it is directed by your wisdom and steered by your intentions.

You will find the time of your life when you’re blessed by finding your soul in everything you do.
